1917 Kodak No. 1A Autographic Special
Manufactured from 1917-1926 this No. 1A Autographic Special has serial number 7458 which likely dates it to 1917. This is one of the earliest rangefinder arrangements made for a camera and works (rather awkwardly) by holding the camera horizontally and looking with one eye 'through' the rangefinder and racking back and forth so that the image in the center mirror aligns with the images in the two mirrors either side. As the image is inverted in the rangefinder, it's not an easy task and once the distance is set, the photo still needs to be composed in the viewfinder. The original price of this camera was $91!
